Who needs this course?
Care-First education for agents and brokers is required for holders of these Alberta general insurance licences:
General — Level 1
General — Level 2
General — Level 3
Successful completion also satisfies the annual CE requirement for the applicable licence class.
The requirement applies to both Alberta residents and non-residents holding affected Alberta licences, including those normally exempt from Alberta’s CE requirements.
Know your dates
November 1, 2026: The Government of Alberta expects agents and brokers who advise on or manage auto insurance policies to complete their education by this date.
January 1, 2027: Alberta’s Care-First auto insurance model takes effect.
Before your 2027 licence renewal: AIC requires affected licensees to complete the applicable Care-First education to be eligible to renew.
