Course Information

To sell life or accident and sickness insurance in Canada, students first need to register in a Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) offered by a regulator-approved education provider such as Learnedly.
Once you complete the LLQP program you can write provincial insurance licensing exams and apply for your provincial life insurance license.
Before selling any insurance products you must be contracted by an insurance company or managing general agency (MGA).
-
You have 1 year from your date of purchase to complete the LLQP certification course.
It takes approximately 100 hours to complete the LLQP course, though but completion times vary widely between students.
-
Students enrolling in Learnedly LLQP courses are required to create an account with the Canadian Insurance Participant Registry (CIPR), a database maintained by Canada’s provincial insurance regulators.
Students are required to provide Learnedly with their CIPR# during the course registration process.
Creating your CIPR profile and number is free.
-
The Canada Training Tax Credit is a non-refundable tax credit that helps Canadians offset the costs of eligible training fees.
It is available to Canadian residents, 18 years of age or older, who have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). It can be used for training courses offered by eligible institutions and for certain expenses related to the training. The credit can be carried forward for up to five years.

This is done with the insurance regulator in your province of residence. Contact information for all insurance regulators across Canada can be found here.

Yes, the LLQP exam is an open book exam.
You are allowed to have the PDF version of the Module textbook open, as well as the calculator application on your desktop or laptop computer. No other resources, including Learnedly's course resources, are permitted.
-
For each Certification Exam, you will have three attempts to score 60% or higher. If you are unsuccessful after the third attempt, you will need to re-purchase that specific Module ($100), which will give you three additional attempts*.
*(This is a difficult one for us. We genuinely would prefer students to pass the exams on the first (or second, or third) attempt. But we also don't want students to use multiple exam attempts to replace the time and effort to learn the material.
We want to strike the right balance to motivate students to be ready to write the exams successfully. We also incur exam proctoring fees with each attempt.)
-
You have one year from the date you are certified by an education provider such as Learnedly to write and pass the provincial life insurance exams.
If you are unable to complete the provincial exams within 12 months of being certified by an Education Provider, you will be required to re-enrol in the LLQP.
-
The LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) exams are considered challenging, requiring a thorough understanding of insurance products, regulations, and industry practices. The difficulty of the exams may vary depending on factors such as your knowledge and experience in the insurance industry, the amount of time you put into studying, and your learning style.
To pass the LLQP exams, you'll need to obtain a minimum passing grade of 60% on each module, which includes multiple-choice questions and case studies. With proper study and preparation, many people successfully pass the exams.
